Straw burning

Straw was introduced as a heating fuel during the energy crisis in 1973.

In the beginning, it was mostly farmers who used it for central heating system on the farm, and dried grain during the harvest period etc. Later, as smoke purification requirements increased and the requirement for efficient combustion with low emission values was raised, straw burning has become more used for larger energy plants for district heating.
